Wadi Bani Auf
I went on a guided tour to get a taste of the more local environment. What a day I had.
This was one of my favourites from the day, I remember being at the bottom looking up at this mountain.
Here obviously I am close to the top looking down the path in which we drove up, the were parts I didn’t think the 4×4 would make it, But, the Toyota Landcruiser did it effortlessly.
When I asked to stop and let me out to take this image, all I could think of while looking at the rock formation was… That rock formation in the background, it is completely curved. There was a time when it was flat.
I image a ever so long time lapse of how it changed over time. It is hard to image the forces in play there to create such an arc of solid rock.
I have always been attracted to mountains. After many years of first skiing the snow boarding, I realised that at least half of my attraction the both was the environment where they took place. I realised the more beautiful the mountain scape, the more I enjoyed the holiday.
Now I am aware of this, the feeling I had while just simply looking at this scene was the same. A simple quiet shaking of the head in amazement, so beautiful, so raw, so natural.
I know that while living here in Oman I will spend much time in these mountains, experimenting photographically with different times of the day, a beautiful playground, on my doorstep.
